Kneaded by hand until it is smooth and ready.
The wheel
On the wheel, the potter's hands give each piece its shape.
Drying
The pieces rest and dry slowly before the fire.
Painted by hand
Every motif is brushed on, piece by piece.
The kiln
Fire sets the glaze and the gold — and the piece is ready for your table.

After a decade in engineering we went to Marrakesh, the Red City. We walked into its workshops, stood in front of the kilns and chose every piece by hand from artisans who kept the craft in the family.
